They’ve been delayed, and then back ordered, and then delayed again. Seriously, where the hell are our Black Magic Cinema Cameras that we can use to change the entire industry already?!
Well, the company’s CEO has taken the liberty of going onto their forum and explaining exactly what’s been happening. According to Black Magic, their supplier has been providing them with subpar glass covering the sensors they were buying; specifically citing that there were blemishes on the second shipment they received. The provider is supposed to do QA checks on them, but apparently 95% of the sensors were found to be not up to standard. Ultimately, the glass supply was found to be tainted by the packaging material that they come in.
Because of this, Black Magic couldn’t use the sensors; and that’s why fan boys all over the world are clamoring for blood unless they get their cameras. Unfortunately, I still can’t find any update on when the Cinema Cameras are expected to come in.
But that’s not all: there will new software update v1.1 coming for the camera within the next few days. Check it out for yourself.
