The L-mount is bound to become perhaps the most sought after mount for photographers. One of the reasons being the plethora of optics one can get. An example of this is the recently launched LK Samyang x Schneider-Kreuznach AF 14-24mm f2.8 zoom lens, which was introduced last year for Sony users. In fact, the lens, since its launch, has made a mark, and is now coming to the L-mount, thanks to the alliance.
For the unversed, the 14-24mm is “the world’s first” ultra-wide zoom lens that can take on front filters. Reported by L-Rumors, the lens was introduced at CP+ 2026, and is a part of a trilogy of lenses from LK Samyang and Schneider-Kreuznach. The lens will then be followed by AF 24-60mm f2.8 and AF 60-180mm f2.8, which will give photographers a constant aperture across the different zoom range. In fact, the lenses are hoping to provide a range of trios that work for photographers working in landscape, events, weddings, portraits, sports, wildlife, bird, and astrophotography.

The specs of the 14-24mm f2.8 include:
- Minimum Focus Distance: 0.18m
- Filter Thread: 77mm front filter compatible
- Autofocus: Linear STM, fast and quiet, optimized for stills and video
- Length: Approx. 86.8mm
- Weight: 441g
- Mount: L-mount (also available on Sony FE)
- Available: April 30, 2026
The L-mount is shared between Panasonic, Leica, and Sigma. While Leica and Panasonic offer some great lenses, third-party manufacturers such as Sigma, LK Samyang, Viltrox and Sirui can undercut the price a lot. Sigma’s Art and Contemporary lines cover a broad range of focal lengths, but the arrival of LK Samyang and Schneider-Kreuznach adds more options than Sigma’s 14-24mm f2.8 Art.
LK Samyang’s option is not only weighs the lightest, but front filter compatibility is what landscape and architecture photographers have been asking for. Even the close focusing distance makes it a viable option for creatives who want more liberty. With this lens, one may also see the 24-60mm f2.8 and the upcoming 60-180mm f2.8 on the way for L-mount users. This prospect only makes the L-mount cameras far more beneficial, which means Leica SL and Panasonic S series users can adopt the lenses to their heart’s content.
The US price has not yet been revealed for the lens, but it has a price tag of 1,049 pounds in Europe. That makes the lens about $1,426. Given that most zooms cost between $1500 to $2000, the price tag can work for many professionals and serious enthusiasts.
Is this worth getting? Well, we reviewed it in Sony E mount. Believe it or not, we weren’t really all that impressed with it.
