February is quite an exciting month for gearheads. From various rumors about certain cameras and lenses to the upcoming CP+ Show taking place at the end of the month—there is so much to look forward to! The latter is one of the popular trade shows, and it is set to take place in Yokohama, Japan. There are multiple exhibitors in this edition, including companies such as Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Godox, Lomography, OM System, and Fujifilm, to name a few. So you can only imagine the exciting gear that is waiting to be launched.
According to Photo Rumors, several things are coming from various brands this month. To make this easier, we have also created a list of all the alleged releases you can expect at the CP+ Show in 2025.
Sigma Lens

According to Photo Rumors, the company is set to launch a new lens, which could be telephoto. This comes at a time when Sigma’s CEO Kazuto Yamaki said in an interview that they are working on a lens that “never existed before.” However, According to Canon Rumors, this could mean that we will see 800mm f6.3 DG DN OS. This only seems fair as the company’s current telephoto is a 500mm f5.6 DG DN OS, and in the past, they already launched an 800mm f5.6 EX DG APO, which was for a DSLR. Since Nikon has its own 800mm lens, and Canon has two such variations, it only makes sense that Sigma also follows suit. However, there is no confirmation yet.
Sony Lens
In a report by Sony Alpha Rumors, there is speculation that the company will launch FE 50-105mm f2.8 G at the CP+ Show. Although the rumor is not from a trusted source, it must be taken with a grain of salt. While there are no details yet, the article states that they could be a continuation in the series of 16-25 f2.8 and 24-50mm f/2.8 G series lenses. It also means that if the 50-105mm does launch, it will be lightweight and compact like other G series optics.
Panasonic Camera
This one has been a long time coming: Panasonic S1R II. We reported earlier that this is likely to be a variant of the Leica SL3, but it is likely to focus more on getting better videos to make it a better hybrid camera. Since the core is the same as the Lecia device, we may see the following specs:
- 60MP Full frame sensor
- Low light autofocus for people of color
- Content Authenticity Credentials
- 5.76MP viewfinder with up to 120 frames a second
- 3.2-inch touchscreen with 2.3 million dots
Pentax and Ricoh Cameras

This is also something we reported earlier; however, we feel the CP+ Show is the ideal time for companies to shake up the camera market. Pentax is rumored to launch a new APS-C DSLR, the K-3 III, while Ricoh is likely to revive the compact camera market with the Ricoh GR IV. Honestly, while they seem like odd choices in the world of mirrorless, we do think the companies have figured out the market better than other brands. With Nikon launching its P1100 camera today to the boom of the second-hand camera market, it is safe to say that mirrorless is gradually becoming a niche.
Fujifilm Camera
Yet another Fujifilm camera that has been teased in 2024 is the GFX100 RF. Said to be a range-finder-style 100MP sensor camera, the GFX100 RF has many people excited. Since Fujifilm announced the X-M5 back in October, the CP+ Show seems like an ideal option for giving people a device that is truly dedicated to photographers. There are also reports that the company may delay its launch to March, but it is not clear exactly when.
Canon Camera
Last but not least is the Canon PowerShot V, a new lineup of compact cameras in the company’s growing portfolio. As we have reported earlier, the company needs to revamp its PowerShot lineup; the speculated specs for now make it seem somewhat exciting:
- 24MP CMOS Sensor
- A 16-50mm (35mm Equivalent) lens
- 3″ Screen (Approx 1 million pixels) LCD with a 170° viewing angle
- 4K Video
- 1.4X Crop Mode for Stills
- RAW, C-RAW, Dual Pixel RAW
- H.265 / HEVC
- C-Log3 / HDR PQ
Since Nikon launched its compact device for wildlife photographers, it seems that Canon will launch something for the content creator generation, just like what Fujifilm did.
At the moment, these are a few speculated cameras and lenses that we may see at the end of February. However, it is all too possible for companies to choose to launch them before or after the CP+ Show.
