When it comes to choosing a luxury camera, everyone knows there are only a few options. One such brand is Leica, which has never shied away from offering what most photographers desire. While there are multiple cameras that have held up their value, this Leica model has seen an obvious rise over the past few years. Here’s a look at how.
The camera in question is the Leica M-A, a model that was introduced in 2014, which is designed for purists. The device is a mechanical rangefinder, has a manual shutter, and a shutter speed range of 1 to 1/1000 sec. Upon its launch, the camera was priced at $5000 (body only).
But in 2022, the company introduced a Titan edition, which featured an APO-Summicron-M 50mm f2 ASH lens, made of titanium. The M-A Titan set was selling for 18,000 pounds, approximately $24,000. However, when the company resold the model at its auction, the limited edition was sold for about $28,000.
Cut to March 30 of 2026, the same M-A titan edition now costs 32,000 euros, which costs about $37,734. In other words, the camera rose in price by over 50%, and showcased a positive increase of about $13,000.

This is great news, given that Leica cameras have always been a collector’s item. The Leica M-A is no different. It has a limited number of cameras, which also have serial numbers. And from what we have seen, the company’s cameras have been perfect for photographers documenting streets or photojournalism.
The camera’s design is simple. You can load the film, advance the lever, and there is no built-in light meter. Overall, the camera is designed to keep things simple, and that is one of the reasons why it is revered. The mechanism is smooth, and you can feel how well it has been built. In fact, as we said in our first impression of the original Leica M-A:
The only word that we can use to describe this camera’s build quality is beautiful. Well, that’s a lie. You can also use timeless, ruggedized, expert, fine, and nostalgic. Veteran Leica shooters will feel right at home with this little piece of art in their hands. Photographers that have shot for many years and experimented with various cameras will also be caught smitten.
Designed for professionals, the camera can only be used by those who know how to use a pure analog. Thus, the device will be loved by purists, who do not wish to use digital technology in any way. Since there is still a niche for such devices, Leica will continue to raise its price, no matter where it is being sold.
