Sony was one of the few companies to see the future of mirrorless cameras before anyone else. Today, they offer over a dozen lenses, and they are pretty good at what they do. For landscape photographers, there are multiple offerings as well, and today, we are looking at some options that can be of help. Have a look.
Sony 20mm f2.8

Why is it great? The Sony 20mm is a pancake lens designed with 6 groups, 6 elements. It was created for APS-C mount, and has a 0.2m close focusing distance, and 7 aperture blades. It is a small, compact lens that works best for those who want a compact setup.
What makes it unique? The lens offers the quickest autofocus ever. It works best with those using NEX models. It is sharp as it can be for a lens of this nature, and color forming is under control. For its price, the lens works wonderfully. If you are someone who wants a small setup, this lens is worth the while.
Perhaps the strongest quality about this lens is its color rendition. The 20mm f2.8 is super punchy when it comes to colors. That means if you’re shooting wildlife or random street scenes, you’ll be in for a treat. In fact, it kind of reminds us a bit of Fujifilm Velvia, but not quite.

Sony 28mm f2

Why is it great? The lens is designed with 8 elements in 9 groups, a 0.13x magnification, and 9 rounded aperture blades. The lens is simple, with minimal buttons, and is quite lightweight. Given that it’s quite cheap, you will adore it for its performance. On the second-hand market, you can get the lens for under $300.
What makes it unique? The lens is ideal for slow-paced photography such as landscape, and it is quick enough to give you good results. The best results come when you stick to center focusing or choose a specific focusing area. The image quality is good, offering not just sharpness but also beautiful colors and bokeh. One can eliminate some distortion in post-production. Full frame users will adore the lens.
We were quite pleased with how sharp the Sony 28mm f2 lens fairs. This has to be one of Sony’s sharper lenses and the company’s primes are what impress us the most. It’s about on par with the 35mm f2.8 if not a tad better.
