Sony has undoubtedly become a name synonymous with mirrorless. The company has introduced some wonderful cameras over the years, with the Sony a7R series becoming the most popular option for those who want details. After a long wait, the company is now introducing the Sony a7R VI, and the first image has finally surfaced online. Have a look.
Sony Alpha Rumors has revealed a new photo of the A7R VI, which was shared by an anonymous source. The photo has since sparked discussion, debate, and wishful thinking amongst photographers on Reddit. Before we get to what people are saying, here is a look at the photo itself:

The Sony a7R VI appears to carry the same a7 series design. The most visible change is that is the replacement of the third custom preset, “3”, with an asterisk (*). This suggests a new system for custom controls. There is also a new tally light, but beyond that, the photo does not give much away. Some suggested that the new asterisks are also likely to be used as a shortcut to menu-controlled mode adjustment, similar to the star button on the a1 II and a9 III.
So far, reports have suggested that the Sony a7R VI will have a 67MP camera, which will put it ahead of many other offerings from the company. And since the report, the reactions online have been quite mixed. For instance, most people find the new camera similarly akin to the a7 V, with some hoping that Sony will bring in a larger grip like the a1 II and a9 III. However, since the image is not clear, it is hard to say how big the grip is.
The a7S community are now wondering whether the a7S IV will be revealed any time soon or will the S line be quietly discontinued. There are reports of the FX taking over, which means that the a7S line could actually be in danger.
Either way, for now, the pricing of the Sony a7R VI is of importance. Tariffs have not yet been eased, and the price of the model is likely to be $5000 or so. Given the challenges, it remains to be seen what the company has in store during the launch on May 13. Until then, keep an eye out.
