Young photographers are no longer satisfied with the kind of images that they are creating with their cameras today. With the proliferation of smartphones, creating images has become exceptionally easy, and with that, also comes the challenge of making something different. To help with the latter, some companies are launching compact cameras, and one of them is the newly introduced Flashback ONE35 V2 Camera. Here is a look at what it can offer.
With the surge of disposable cameras, co-founders Kelric Mullen and Mackenzie Salisbury decided to build a camera that blends the nostalgic charm of a vintage camera and the digital convenience of modern cameras. The Flashback ONE35 V2 is a retro, reusable camera that can help one get the look of film with ease. Kelric and Mackenzie realised the significance of disposable cameras and created something that will certainly be loved by Gen Z.

The ONE35 V2 is the successor of the ONE35, which was launched on Kickstarter in 2023. In 2024, the duo received AU$500,000 from Maxine Horne on Australia’s Shark Tank for their creation. Now, with the new device, Flashback allows one to relive the experience of film, and it also features a direct-view optical viewfinder.
In addition, you get a mechanical winder, an old-school xenon flash, and one that can be recharged again. This means you do not have to spend more to get your rolls developed. Additionally, you receive a free app that allows you to select the retro filter you need. To keep the ‘feel’ of a film camera, you can shoot your ‘roll’ of images, and then wait “24 hours” before you see the 27 images on your app. Some of the film filters include flashback classic, which is inspired by Fujifilm Superia film. There are also lots of colors, which is great for party shots. There is also a monochrome filter, which can help to get gritty scenes, such as a concert.
The ONE35 V2 also offers improvement over the first camera, and the company has also added four new colors. The new device is a sustainable alternative to wasteful single-use devices. The compact camera is priced relatively low, at $100 AU (approximately $64). For anyone looking for a point-and-shoot camera that offers a retro look, both inside and out, this may be the perfect choice. There are models such as Camp Snap, which costs around $69. In that regard, ONE34 V2 and Camp Snap cost around the same. The choice would then be which one you prefer better.
The Flashback ONE35 V2 is available on Kickstarter, but it is currently sold out. Until the next batch arrives, you will have to wait and watch.
