Amazon’s best-seller list is updated every few weeks, providing users with a more accurate representation of what is being purchased at a given time. This month, too, the portal has unveiled a new ranking, and it appears that it is a fair battle between APS-C and full-frame cameras. If you are a young photographer looking to purchase your first device, these options can be of great help. Let’s dive in.
Canon R50

The Canon R50 is an APS-C camera designed for beginners. It features a 24MP sensor, DIGIC X processor, and has 651 AF points. You also get 15fps of burst rate, 4K videos at 30fps, and it comes with a 2.36-million-dot electronic viewfinder. The device is affordable, has intelligent subject detection for autofocus, and is easy to use. There is also a customisable auto mode. The viewfinder is comfortable, and the design is lightweight. The R50 also features the same sensor as the R3, without a backlight. While the image production is good, high ISO settings can introduce a lot of noise. The JPEG quality is good, and you get lots of contrast from the image. The colors are good, and the pictures are better than those of a smartphone. As we added, “While RAW files will slow down the R50, the versatility will often still be worth the cost. I was able to recover some overexposed highlights.”
Canon R100

The Canon R100 is another APS-C camera with a 24MP CMOS sensor, DIGIC 8 processor, and ISO of 25,600. The device has -3 stops of exposure compensation, 143 autofocus points, and a burst rate of 6.5 frames. You also get bulb mode, despite it being a beginner-centric camera. There is also a 1.04M-dot LCD and a 2.36M-dot OVEF. For video needs, a young 4K resolution with a 60fps burst rate is required. Canon offers an adaptable body, and it is cheaper than the R50. There is also good image quality, the auto mode is intelligent, and the body is lightweight. The R100 utilizes a processor similar to the M50, delivering nice colors and a smooth background blur. For high ISO images, details can be lost quickly. There are also good RAW files, which allow you to recover details, especially in a blown-out sky. As a result, you have sufficient room to maneuver for exposure errors.
Sony A7 IV

The Sony A7R IV is an old, full-frame camera that features a 61MP back-illuminated sensor. It has ISO up to 102,400, has 14-bit RAW, and 567 AF points. The device can shoot at a 10fps burst rate, has 5-axis image stabilisation, and has a 5.76M-dot viewfinder. You can also shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. The device is good for face detection and tracking, including animals and birds. The metering is great, and you get a comfortable grip. It is weather sealing, and the autofocus is really fast. The sharpness is good, and in-camera skin softening is good. As we said in our review, “Most photographers would gladly pay a few extra hundred dollars to get an all-in-one option. The a7 IV is a great hybrid camera with capabilities that will entice a variety of photographers and videographers.”
