For the past few months, I’ve been truly contemplating what the camera that I will buy is going to be. And I don’t mean like a camera that’s partially meant for work: I instead am talking about a camera that I want to bring me joy and that I will truly want to bring around everywhere. Originally, I thought it was the Leica M11D. But Global Warming has had its way with many cameras and lenses; and I can’t be out and about when suddenly a rainstorm decides to hit when I wasn’t given previous warning. And so that leaves me with two other rangefinder style cameras: the Leica Q3 and the Fujifilm GFX 100RF. I know their cons as I’ve reviewed both. And so I am solely only looking at and thinking about the green flags.
The Leica Q3

So here are all the green flags that will make me want to buy the Leica Q3:
- High megapixel count at 60MP in a full-frame sensor
- Autofocus and great manual focus
- IP durability weather sealing
- Interchangeable batteries with my current Leica SL2s
- Scene modes
- Small
- Tilting screen
- Internal memory and an SD card slot
- Leica looks
- Leaf shutter for flashes if I ever want to shoot something fancy and different
- It’s small and portable in a way that I’d always want to bring it with me
- Fast aperture lens means I don’t need to crank the ISOs up all the way
The Fujifilm GFX 100RF

Here’s what I adore about the Fujifilm GFX 100RF
- High megapixel count of 100MP in a medium format sensor
- Capable of doing autofocus even if its not so great
- Zone focusing abilities
- Weather sealing
- Fairly small
- Various crop modes
- Leaf shutter
- Multiple exposure
- Dual card slots
- Film simulations
- More affordable than the Leica
Herein lies my problems: they’re both very good and have very desirable traits. I adore the IP durabiltiy of the Leica, but I also really love how the Fuji can give me more creativity with multiple exposure mode. They both feel great in my hand, and they both have high megapixel counts. I can make great photos with each for sure.
But which one should I get? I’m still confused quite a bit.
Notice how I’m not even talking about image quality and autofocus? They’re both good on image quality, and the autofocus on both is useable enough. I accept that I’ll probably need to zone focus for most of the usage of these.
A part of me wants to go with the more affordable price, but the other part of me wants the durability and the faster aperture lens.
