DSLRs continue to hold their reign in the photo world, despite many companies phasing them out in recent years. One of the reasons could be the price point, while the other is the array of lenses available at much cost-effective rates to many. Much like the return of compact, DSLRs, in our view, will always have a niche audience going after it. If you are looking to purchase a new DSLR, then here are some options from Amazon that can help you pick one.
Canon Rebel T7/2000D

Launched in 2018, the Canon Rebel T7 was launched with two other DLSRs in the entry-level market. The lowest base model from these offerings was the Rebel T100/4000D, the middle model being the T7/2000D, and the upper-end DSLR being the SL3/250D. As a middle model, the 2000D offers a 24.1MP CMOS APS-C sensor, with the highest ISO up to 12,800. It also includes a 0.8x viewfinder, a 3-inch 920,000-dots LCD, and comes with an EF-S 18-55mm IS II kit lens. On the autofocus front, it has 9 points, which is not too much for today’s standards, but that’s the best you can get for an entry-level camera. And for sharing images, you have Bluetooth and WiFi. On Amazon, the camera repeatedly came to the top ranks thanks to the varied bundle offerings.
Nikon D850

This was definitely a surprise even for us. One of the last few DSLRs released by Nikon, the D850 is a high-end camera designed for professional photographers. The camera has a full-frame 45MP sensor, 12 to 14-bit RAW, a 0.75x viewfinder, and a 3.2-inch 2,359,000-dot LCD. The camera has a flash sync up to 1/250 sec, ISO up to 25,600, and 153 autofocus points (with 99 of them being cross-type). In addition to pictures, you can shoot 4K videos at 30fps. The shutter life is at 200,000 counts.
In our review of the D850, we loved the image quality and color depth, the build, button, touchscreen, video options, and more. In fact, the D850 had the best viewfinder seen on any DSLR we have used. It went on to win our Editor’s Choice Award as well.
Canon Rebel SL3/250D

As stated above, the SL3/250D is one of Canon’s higher-end beginner DSLRs, and it has also repeatedly been shown in the Amazon ranking. The camera features a 24MP sensor, DIGIC 8 image processor, 9 autofocus points, and a viewfinder with 0.87x magnification. It has a continuous shooting speed of 5fps, but this is different from the 2000D, as it offers 4K movies. It also has a flippy LCD, Guided UI, and Creative Assist modes to help you shoot better, and is really lightweight, weighing just 445.2g.
To see Canon topping the list again for DLSRs is understandable, as the company continues to have a strong hold on the imaging market. In addition, we also see how DLSRs, whether high-end or entry-level, both have a place in the market. It remains to be seen whether companies can use this data to get us something innovative in the coming years.
