Most photographers know that if they’re looking for camera straps reviews, they’ll probably find it here. At least, we used to be. We don’t review so many anymore because we’re trying to find innovative straps. The folks at Rigu sent us a beautiful Cam-in Turquoise leather strap for testing a while back. Is it innovative? No, but it’s got a whole lot of charm, and it’s bound to make the right photographer with the proper camera really happy.
If I’m being my honest self, I prefer longer and adjustable camera straps. These can allow me to adapt to wearing a jacket, not wearing one, the camera being slung around my neck, around my shoulders, crossbody, and even wrapped around my wrist. While using this camera strap, I dedicated myself to always only carrying it with a small camera and small lens. Luckily, I know tons of photographers who do this. And those photographers will love a camera strap like this. At the same time, if you’re currently happy with the strap you have, you’ll have no reason to switch over to this at all except for the beautiful color.
Luckily, it’s long enough to also wrap around your wrist, sling around your shoulder where it will fall to mid-torso, or sling around your neck. Essentially, it’s taking the idea. of an old-school camera strap and sprucing it up a bit. Sadly, there’s not much I can compare it to. I’ve used lots of cameras on short straps, and I’ve never been about this. Perhaps this comes from my days as a musician. In a former life, I was a punk rock kid that played a bass guitar. It would often be slung around my thighs where I’d pick at the strings. Eventually, I started to use it higher, but not so much.
In a way, this camera strap feels a bit like an awkward in between. It’s too short for me to want to consistently use all the time except if I were using a small point and shoot like my Fuji Natura S. But it’s also too long for it to feel like a real neck strap for me. There’s a chance that you’d be totally different and find a way to gel with it.
Extra kudos come in if you can find a camera with matching leather. And perhaps that’s the really tough part — how many cameras come with this shade of turquoise leather?
