Canon’s latest streak of photographic gear has been applauded as much as criticized. But that doesn’t deter the fact that Canon cameras and lenses still continue to be the prime choice amongst many photographers and photography enthusiasts. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that their upcoming models are facing a long waiting period. Now, their two newly released lenses have joined the fray.
Canon and Their Shipping Delays
According to Canon Japan (via Canon Rumors and Digital Camera.JP), the company has updated the list of their cameras and lenses, which will be delayed this time. This time, the RF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM and the RF 50mm F1.4L VCM both join a six-month delay list. Here is a look at the status:

Why This Will Occur Later, Too
One of the issues that camera manufacturers face is the shortage of components. We have spoken about it in the past, and we mentioned supply chain issues with Canon and Fujifilm, Nikon, Sony, and Sigma. This is exactly why camera brands like Canon need to take a different direction. According to Canon Rumors, magnesium is one of the main components, and it is currently in high demand. China was one of the major providers of this mineral, but with their environmental initiatives, the country has cut down on exports, leading to a supply chain issue.
This is one of the hypotheses, but one can’t truly know the real reason. However, it is also why The Phoblographer has been adamant that some old technology returns or second-hand cameras become a major replacement for such issues. That way, the resources can be used for innovation by some brands. Sure, the prices increase, but such cameras will only cater to professional photographers, not the rest of us. Many who enjoy photography as a hobby or form of expression can use any device already available. Cameras today are pretty good; even old ones like the Sony A7R III or Canon EOS R3 are wonderful options. It all depends on how you use them.
