Dear photographers: the Phoblographer is looking to tell new stories and would like your assistance in doing so. Specifically, we’re a website centered on photographers and photography first. The still image holds power that, when done correctly, can demand far more attention than a video does. With that said, we’d like your help telling your success stories in the way of closing deals, print sales, budgeting, invoicing, negotiating, etc. We’re glad to keep you anonymous if you wish; but also believe strongly in the idea of authenticity and verification of facts. So we’ll hold back any information you do not wish us to spread. Please see below for more.
The information you give us will be part of a new series we’re working on called “The Modern Photographer.” It’s a compilation of articles sourcing information from our readers, semi-professional photographers, professional photographers, and those who make income from the sale of their photographic services. Please note, we’re not looking to feature those who feed the attention-based economy via what our industry calls content creation. Instead, we want people who sell photographs.
If you make money primarily off of print sales of your images, we’d really, really like to hear from you.
Here’s what we need. Please answer the following questions in an email to editors(at)thephoblographer(dot)com. Tell us the who, what, when, where, how and why.:
- Who are you as a photographer? Tell us about what defines you.
- Have you won any awards or accolades? Tell us about them.
- What genres of photography do you shoot in?
- How long have you been shooting?
- How has business been for you since the pandemic?
- Where are you based?
- Talk to us about how you invoice clients. Can you show us a breakdown of an invoice please?
- Tell us about some of the things you do in your contracts that have resulted in you get the best success rates.
- Talk to us about print sales. How are they for you?
We’ll work with you to verify the information you give us and provide links to anything of yours that you’d like.
