Can we jokingly call this thing the Texas Epson? I mean, Epson isn’t playing around with their new P20570 printer. It’s a 64-inch P-series printer; and is meant for the professional photographer that makes large prints fairly regularly or a small commercial printing house. With that said, any photographer looking to hop into the world of serious art-making might really consider looking at this. Of course, we’d tell you to make sure that you’ve got the space first as well as the possible client list. Here’s a bit more about the new Epson P20570 printer.
Considering that its predecessor cost over $12,000 the new Epson P20570 might not be the right option for many out there. However, it’s worth the investment for photographers who make most or a lot of their money from prints — and there are lots of them out there. This printer sports 12 different color channels for you to be able to make your prints as color-accurate as your screen. Of course, you need the matching ICC profiles and all.
But that’s not the only expense that you’ll be taking on. If you’re spending $12,000 on a printer, you might as well go for higher end paper too. Epson’s Legacy paper is arguably the best out there; and it’s expensive. However, it’s beautiful and unlike so many others out there.
Advertising, commercial, wedding, and fine art photographers are probably the ones who are going to benefit the most here. They’d also charge accordingly. It often makes more economic sense for you to do your own printing if you have the knowledge. If you sell a few high-end prints, you’re bound to easily make your money back on this investment.
