If you’ve been waiting for new features for the Exposure X4 by Alien Skin Software, you’ll be pleased to know that a major update now has that covered.
Today, Alien Skin Software announced that the Exposure X4.5 update to their non-destructive RAW photo editor and organizer is now available. It’s been a while since we had a look at what the film-inspired, photo editing alternative offers. According to their announcement, the major feature from this update is the addition of LUT support to the Exposure X4. This now opens up more creative possibilities and tools, as users can now import LUT effects available online or produced by other photo and video applications to Exposure. Photographers can make further adjustments to the effects and their results using the software’s advanced editing and layering tools.
The Copy Photos from Card function has been redesigned to display visual previews of images at the source location. With this improvement, photographers can quickly select the images they want to copy and also choose various source and file destination options. This comes hand in hand with Exposure’s design that lets photographers edit immediately after starting the image copy.
If you’re planning to migrate from Lightroom to Exposure, you can take advantage of the included Lightroom keyboard shortcut preset to familiarize yourself. Exposure’s configurable keyboard shortcuts will also let you assign editing, organizing, or navigating functions to your keystroke of choice.
Other enhancements included in the Exposure X4.5 update are:
- Additional freely movable light leak overlays, including the new categories of Lens Flare and Haze
- Collection membership now appears in the Metadata panel, enabling photographers to see a full list of the collections a photo belongs to
- Support for additional cameras and lenses from these manufacturers:
- User-requested workflow refinements that include new photo sizing options when exporting, new keyboard shortcuts, and more
