A fan of all things pop art and Andy Warhol? Here’s your chance to hang one of his rare and original self-portraits in your home or work space.
Andy Warhol has taken a number of well-known Polaroid snaps of the rich and the famous during his time — including himself. Now, with our latest vintage find, you can grab the chance to snag one of those precious Polaroid self-portraits. Not a reprint or replica, but an original framed print! Just prepare to part with a whopping $65,000 and it’s all yours to adorn your home or office.
According to Miami-based ebay seller gallart, the Polaroid self-portrait is a unique and original print from the collection of Ronnie Cutrone. It comes in a floating mount in a wood frame, ready to hang and add a touch of Warhol to your chosen space. It’s also in excellent condition, and has a certificate of authenticity included for your peace of mind.
This item is just one of the iconic instant photos that the pop art pioneer took, some of them using his SX-70 Polaroid camera, which he was rarely seen without. These snaps weren’t just his documentation of the friends, fans, and celebrities that surrounded him in New York in the 1970s and 1980s, But, as we can all tell, the self-portraits are a lot rarer, and we typically only see them making the rounds in galleries (in fact, there’s one coming up at BASTIAN Galerie in London on February 2 – April 13, 2019). Does that warrant the hefty $65,000 price tag? Avid pop art fans and serious collectors probably don’t have to think so much. But otherwise, you might have to make a careful consideration!
