The new CamFi Pro Plus supports wireless tethering feature for around 500 models from major camera companies.
Shortly before 2018 closed, CamFi released the CamFi Pro Plus, a new offering that supports wireless tethering for 500+ cameras. The wireless camera controller manufacturer sees this product greatly improving the productivity of professional photographers all while using the tools they’re already familiar with.
CamFi Pro Plus provides wireless tethering features to a large selection of cameras, including those by major manufacturers like Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fuji, and Pentax. Check out the full camera list to see if your camera is supported. If your DSLR camera supports USB tethering, you can use CamFi Pro Plus with it.
With the usual tethering setup, a USB cable is still needed to connect the camera to the computer. CamFi Pro Plus adds a third party tethering service to send the USB data to the client device directly via WiFi connection. This way, the camera and the computer are directly connected through the CamFi device, like they would if they were connected through USB. With this setup, photographers can still work with tools and software they’re already using, such as Capture One and Lightroom. CamFi Pro Plus is compatible with Windows and Mac, while the native CamFi app features work with Canon, Nikon, and Sony.
According to CamFi, their tests revealed that the maximum WiFi speed can reach up to 10 M Bytes/second, depending on the camera and distance. This means a 20 Megapixel RAW photo may only take about three seconds to transfer using Capture One.
CamFi Pro Plus is now available at the CamFi website and priced at $339. Existing CamFi Pro customers can also upgrade their devices with this third party tethering service for $40.
