Check out one of the fanciest Polaroid cameras that we’ve seen.
In case you’re feeling extra fancy today, we urge you to check out this rare Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera Alpha 1 being sold on eBay right now by Boston-based Bromfield Camera. It’s plated with 24-carat gold and carries a Buy It Now price tag of US $899.95.
The seller describes the camera as “in excellent” condition, with the gold plating verified by a jeweler – he even has the paper to show for it. There aren’t any other details available for this, such as the year it was manufactured or when the gold plating was added, or who the original owner was.
“I am not sure if this was a limited gold employee camera, a limited gold Saudi camera, or exactly which prime edition,” the seller added.
The SX-70, according to Camerapedia, was a revolutionary folding instant camera first produced by Polaroid in 1972. It held the distinction of being the first instant SLR in history and the first to use Polaroid’s new integral print film. Although one of the pricier Polaroid cameras then and now, the SX-70 continues to prove to be one of the most popular and well-recognized models among all instant cameras.
Today, a refurbished SX-70 from Polaroid Originals will set you back somewhere around $470 to 500. But if you’re looking for a bargain, head on to eBay where sellers retail secondhand models for way, way less.
If you wish to have that bling and got a bit of extra cash to burn, anyway, head on to eBay now to marvel at this golden beauty. It’s hardly the most expensive Polaroid you’ll see in the market – remember this limited edition Polaroid Land Camera 185 that had an asking price of $1,839.99, or this Polaroid 100 Land Camera Protoype that went for $6,000.01?
