After creating Kodachrome and Cinestill Presets for Adobe Lightroom, The Classic Presets now has film simulations for Capture One. If you’re looking for a better option for the Capture One Film Styles, the Classic Film Styles collection could just be it.
We’ve recently given the Capture One Film Styles a go and gave our verdict a few days ago. It’s a nice option for photographers who want a film look to their digital images, but not for “hybrid” photographers who also shoot film regularly. If you’re among those who think the simulations don’t look like film at all, The Classic Presets creator André Duhme shares your disappointment.
Finding most of the Capture One Styles not to his liking, he decided to try his hand on making his own film emulations on Capture One. The result is the Classic Film Style Collection, which “provides the chance to transform the look and feel of old film into our today´s technological possibilities.” With 35 different styles to choose from without “having to deal with destructive corrections,” this collection promises to give the best photos for photographers with discerning tastes in film simulations.

“While working on the Lightroom presets, people have asked me if I can do it also for Capture One. At first I tried to build a Kodak Gold 200 like I did it with the CineStill films in Lightroom before, and it worked really well. Capture One is a much more powerful tool. All I need is just on board and I love the color editor. After this test, I’ve asked my community, what films they would like to have for their C1 and started working on it.”
Hybrid photographers will be delighted to see some classic emulsions on the list, such as Kodak Kodachrome 64, Kodak Ektar 100, Kodak Portra 400, Cinestill 800T, Ilford Delta 400, and Kodak Tri-X 400. At least with The Classic Presets collection, you actually have an idea what film look you’re going for.
The Classic Film Styles Collection works with Capture One 9, 10, and 11. Find out more or buy it now at The Classic Presets website for €59.99.
