It should go without saying, but really people… don’t try this at home! Images featured are screengrabs from the featured video. All credit to Peter McKinnon.
Have you ever wondered what the inside of your camera looks like? Most of us have, or at least thought about this at some point during our personal photography journies. But few likely ever take the risk of actually going so far as to take the camera apart to have a look. Leave it up to a Youtube Star to do it so that you don’t have to…
That’s right everyone, one Youtube’s latest stars, Peter McKinnon, on the heels of a monstrously popular 2017, has started 2018 off with a bang. Upon discovering that he had damaged his Canon 1DX Mark II, Peter reached out to Canon and got a replacement to use while he sent his actually 1DX in for repair. But before he sent it in, he decided to open it up and have a look inside.
Now, let’s not forget the Canon 1Dx Mark II is not an inexpensive camera. We aren’t talking about a Rebel line camera, nor a 7D or even a 5D… Peter decided to crack open his $6,000 1DX Mark II. If you are one of those people who babies their gear and cringes at the idea of putting your camera in your bag without first putting your lens cap on – you better take some Xanex before watching this video. You are about to hyperventilate.
Joking aside, really people, don’t do this at home. Peter is a known internet celebrity – chances are he either cleared this with Canon first or at the very least will get some more leeway in terms of warranty repair for anything he screwed up with the camera by doing this. You, on the other hand, will possibly be left having to buy a new camera should you really mess it up.
But regardless of all that, it sure is pretty looking inside a Canon 1DX Mark II isn’t it?
