Continuing their autofocus lens updates, we now have a new Rokinon 14mm f2.8 AF.

Rokinon has been systematically working on updates for a number of their lenses; and the latest is the Rokinon 14mm f2.8 AF. This is an autofocus lens designed for DSLRs–not Sony full frame mirrorless cameras the way that some of the previous versions have been. This lens isn’t the fastest wide angle prime, but it’s instead designed to be pretty affordable at $999. Rokinon’s autofocus lenses look a bit like their SP lineup of glass, but they’re different. There is no weather sealing and typically they don’t have a metal exterior, etc. But in this case, Rokinon is giving you all that and even more–which is nice if you’re a higher end Canon DSLR owner. This big announcement is just in time for CES 2018.

Rokinon Releases a Fifth Auto Focus Model 14mm F2.8 AF Prime for Canon EF Mount A World Class Full Frame Ultra-Wide Lens

(New York, New York) January 8, 2018 – Less than three months after introducing its 35mm F1.4 AF Full Frame for Sony E, Rokinon launches its new 14mm F2.8 AF Full Frame Ultra-Wide for Canon EF-Mount. This 14mm prime is not only Rokinon’s 1st auto focus lens engineered for Canon, but it also is their first model to offer weather sealing. Built for the rigors of professional use and uncompromised optical performance, it easily meets or exceeds the performance characteristics of other professional / “luxury” ultra-wides, and is the most affordable with a MSRP of $999.00.

Designed from the ground up specifically for Canon EOS Digital Full Frame DSLR’s, this ultra-wide offers a bright F2.8 aperture, uncompromised optical performance, sealing against the elements and a rounded seven blade aperture for pleasing bokeh and star effects. Compared to others in its class, the Rokinon 14mm F2.8 AF Prime for Canon EF Mount provides reduced size and weight, a wider angle of view of 116.6°, and its new AF design takes advantage of the minimized weight and movement of the focusing lens group for accurate, faster, and even quieter in operation than competing systems.

A total of fifteen elements in ten groups along with UMC anti-reflective coatings are utilized to maximize image quality. One Extra Low Dispersion, two Aspherical and four High Refractive Index lens elements combine for outstanding image clarity, contrast, color fidelity, and high resolution from the center to the corners of the image as can be seen on it’s MTF chart. Additional features include a durable all metal housing with a built in lens hood, a Manual / Auto Focus switch and full compatibility with APS-C Canon EF mount cameras, where it will provide an equivalent focal length of approximately 22.4mm.

The Rokinon14mm F2.8 AF Full Frame Ultra-Wide for Canon EF mount will be available from authorized Rokinon dealers in the first quarter of 2018.
