Samyang and Rokinon have always made quality lenses at a much more affordable price point; and today they’re announcing two new additions to their system. We’ve now got the addition of a 21mm f1.4 and a 50mm f1.2–and they’re both only for mirrorless cameras.
The Samyang 21mm F1.4 ED AS UMC CS features manual focus operation and is designed for cameras with an APS-C sensor. Samyang is also stating that it provides a 21mm field of view; and to do that it features eight elements in seven groups including one extra low dispersion lens (ED) and three glass aspherical lenses. The lens also features Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) that keeps ghosting down. It is said to focus as close at 0.28m.
What you all most likely want to read about is the new Samyang 50mm F1.2 AS UMC CS; which is also designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras. The lens design is comprised of nine lenses in seven groups with two glass aspherical lenses (ASP) and Ultra Multi Coating (UMC); combined this creates what Samyang says is an ideal portrait lens.
Both lenses are available for pre-order now. The Samyang 50mm f1.2 is available for pre-order at $549 in Canon EF-M, Sony E, Micro Four Thirds or Fujifilm X mount.
The Samyang 21mm f1.4 will be available for $499 in Canon EF-M, Sony E, Micro Four Thirds or Fuji X mount.
