Nikon has a special fluorine coating on many of their lenses. And not too long ago, Nikon Japan published a video of just how effective this coating is. First off, fluorine coatings help to ensure that liquids don’t smudge or become problematic when they hit the glass surfaces. In the video after the jump, Nikon has demonstrated how effective this coating actually is.
Of course, most photographers are also very protective of their lenses and often see liquids as the equivalent of kryptonite. Lenses are obviously built and designed much more sturdy than this, but it’s nice to know that you’ve got some extra protection just in case.
As a quick reminder, there are also tons of Nikon bundle deals still available right now.
