Los Angeles-based Zach King, aka FinalCutKing on YouTube, has taken the art of magic off the stage and into your smartphones.
That’s right. While the likes of David Copperfield and David Blaine are still performing their craft on stage and in the streets, painstakingly rehearsing and honing each trick before each show, King has taken his own undeniably entertaining illusions into the 21st century and unto social video platform Vine. Not to say that he’s joined their ranks, of course. As he told The Independent,
“Vine is all about creativity to me. I love real life magic and highly respect magicians, but it’s funny when people relate my work to magic because I don’t do the tricks for real.”
Each of King six-second performances have been amassing likes in the thousands, entertaining the Vine world so much so that some have dubbed him the “film editing wizard.” With just a bit of imagination and a lot of assistance from his own prowess with video editing, he has posted around 100 videos of him performing what he calls the “digital sleight of hand” – from showing off his instant bedtime routine to pulling an actual kitten out of the computer screen, from cleverly copy and pasting money to jumping into his car without opening the door. Most recently, he’s even magically restocked an empty toilet paper roll with just a piece of copy paper and turned the Twitter icon into an actual tweeting bird.
Check out his best work in the compilation video after the jump.
