Today, Sigma is giving you even more of a reason to switch to their lens system. In a move that has shocked us all, the company is announcing today that they will switch the mounts of your current Sigma glass if you so decide to change camera systems. So what does that mean? Well, I’ve been considering going from Canon to Sony for a while now, and Sigma is giving me one more reason to do so because I own all Sigma lenses now. My current Sigma Micro Four Thirds lenses can also be switched over to Sony NEX if I choose as well.
DSLR owners will be able to switch their lenses to Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax or Sigma mounts. While on the mirrorless end, users will be able to go from Micro Four Thirds to Sony NEX with ease. Additionally, they’ll calibrate and do a near full service of the lens as well.
The cost? It will be around $80-250 plus shipping depending on what exactly needs to be done. Why so much? Well in all practicality if you’re changing a mount, you really need to go in and realign the lens elements–or at least that’s what Leica says.
But that’s not all! Sigma is also extending the warranties of all products purchased after July 1st 2013 to four years.
You can start doing this on September 2nd of this year.
