Camera remotes are nothing new. They attach to your camera either via cord or wirelessly, and they let you control the shutter, and sometimes even the settings. Camera remotes working via your smartphone are also nothing new. But the Weye Feye is. It’s not just a simple remote control. It’s a WiFi add-on that attaches to your Canon or Nikon DSLR via USB, and delivers the camera’s live view stream directly onto your smartphone’s screen. Or your tablet. Or your laptop. Or the internet right away (via your smartphone or tablet or laptop.) On top of it all, the app that comes with it lets you control almost any of your camera’s settings. Pretty neat, innit? The Weye Feye runs on an integrated lithium polymer battery with 2000 mAh capacity, which promises a run-time of up to eight hours. Its range is 120 m, and it works with most current Canon and Nikon models. So far, it appears the Weye Feye has only been announced in Europe. Photography Blog quotes a UK retail price of GBP 199, which is slightly over US-$ 300.

The New Nikon P1000 Has a 125x Optical Zoom with a Laughable 1/2.3 inch Sensor for $999.95

Today, for some odd reason, the Nikon P1000 point and shoot camera is being announced. Odd, you ask? The fact that it is a point and shoot isn’t such a big issue at all; but the fact that it’s a superzoom camera being marketed as one with a 125x optical zoom is what’s insane. Kudos to Nikon for being able to do something like this; but then you read the fine print (or in this case, print that’s not even in the press release) and see the bait and switch–this Nikkor lens is having its potential wasted by being placed in front of a 1/2.3 inch sensor.
