In addition to the very sad news of Panasonic discontinuing their 20mm f1.7 lens, the company is also announcing a new firmware update to their underrated GH3 camera. The update, which should be available in July, is going to be allowing for a bunch of cool new features aimed towards still photographers. They’re porting a Low Light AF mode from the GF-6 and G6 over to the GH3 that lets you focus easier in really low light of -3EV and there is also a silent mode. Fujifilm has this–and it nerfs the shutter sound, operation sound and flash output.
Plus, Mac users will have less trouble porting images over to their computers via Wifi.
All the details are after the jump. We’re working on our GH3 review right now, but if you’re interested, B&H Photo has the GH3 for $1,249 right now.
PS: Most of the videos on our brand new YouTube channel have been shot with the GH3.
