Camera bags carry the cameras we love to use, the items that help us accomplish those images we are after, and they make us look devilishly good while doing it. Nothing does this better than a well made messenger bag. Whether you really are an urban dweller, a suburbanite, or just someone looking for a new way to cart around your favorite kit, these excellent messenger bags were made to help you do it well. Find out which one might fit you perfectly after the jump.
The Domke F-802 Reporter’s Satchel
A true classic to the core, the Domke F-802 Reporter’s Satchel covers all the basics and more with a roomy interior and a low profile. I carry an older special edition of this bag myself, and love it all the more with every use. I believe youâll feel the same once you saddle up one of these and hit the streets with your favorite kit.
Think Tank Retrospective 7
Think Tankâs answer to the carry-all messenger bag for the mirrorless shooter is the Retrospective 7 Shoulder Bag. This camera satchel straight rocks. Our editor-in-chief Chris Gampat  has spent a bit of time with this bag himself, and cannot say enough great things about it. Check out his review of the Think Tank Retrospective 7 for a bit more on this particular specimen.
Lowepro Event Messenger 250
The Lowepro Event Messenger 250 is a bit less expensive that the other bags listed here, but still packs a wallop where it counts. Plenty of room for most day-tripping kits and tons of great features like a dedicated laptop sleeve make this a tempting bag for any photographer on a budget.
Think Tank City Walker 20
Did I mention that Think Tank makes a ton of bags? Well, they do. Another well received bag in the messenger arena for them is the CityWalker 20. Also being reviewed on our site, this time by Abram Goglanian, this bag is great for almost any kit, but really works well with normal wedding photographer and street kits. Check out Abramâs First Impression of the Think Tank City Walker 20 for more information.
Inserts
Quite a few of us already have a favorite satchel or messenger bag, but its not really made for carrying around cameras. Rather than buy a whole new one, why not redeem your favorite bag with a fresh insert? Tenba’s Pro Digital 2 Photo Insert is a basic insert that works for most 13â (width) or larger bags.
You can also pick up ONA’s Roma Camera Insert and Bag Organizer insert that might make the interior look even better than the exterior. Itâs not only for looks though, this insert fits in most 11â and up bags and even comes with extra pockets and add-ons to make your favorite old bag even more versatile than before:
Whatever your choice is this season on a new bag, be sure to take the time to look at your needs and weigh them against your options. This is one present you will not want to re-gift next season.
