The Tiffen Company has recently announced the latest version of their digital filter software Photo fx. In Version 5, Photo fx (for the iPhone) and Photo fx Ultra (for the iPad) come with a bunch of digital filters that emulate optical glass filters from Tiffen, specialized lenses, optical lab processes, film grain, exacting color correction, natural light, and photographic effects. The Ultra version for the iPad even comes with a paint system with a variety of brushes.
It doesn’t end with that, however. In addition to all the digital filters, Photo fx 5 is able to communicate with Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, the Sincerely Ship & Print service as well as Email, Print, Copy, and Open In functions of your mobile device, so you can share your results instantaneously. If you’re a user of Tiffen Dfx v3, you can export your Photo fx 5 settings to Dfx v3 and emulate the same look there as well.
In version 5, Photo fx and Photo fx Ultra come with new processing algorithms that work faster than the previous versions. Especially for users of older-generation iPads and iPhones, this will be good news. iPad 3 users don’t come too short, either: version 5 now fully supports the new iPad’s retina display and makes use of its full resolution.
Tiffen Photo fx for the iPhone and Photo fx Ultra for the iPad are available via iTunes and retail for US-$ 2.99 and US-$ 4.99 respectively. The Phoblographer is currently testing both softwares, and we will review them for you in the coming weeks. For more information, please visit the Tiffen product page.
