A superzoom lens like the Tamron 18-270mm (for Nikon and Canon) is ideal for street photography, and never more so than when photographing a protest like Occupy Wall Street. While down at Liberty Square (officially Zuccotti park) I found this lens more useful than just about anywhere else.

When Tamron announced that they had won the EISA award for European Zoom Lens of the Year 2011 – 2012 for their 18-270mm superzoom (Nikon Mount, Canon Mount), I figured it was time to give this superzoom a review and see what all the excitement was about. My first question was what does 18-270mm even look like?

Most lens reviews talk about technical details, show charts and some image samples. It seems to be common knowledge that a Branded prime lens is superior to a third-party zoom lens. But can you tell the difference in a resulting image? Yeah? Prove it.
