Camera Nikon D90 Exposure 0.01 sec (1/100) Aperture f/5.0 Focal Length 35 mm ISO Speed 640

I paid a visit to Tamron and Sigma during Photo Plus Expo 2010, in New York City. Since I am in the market for better ultra wide angle Nikon DX lenses for my Nikon D90 for landscape photography, I thought I’d take a look at some of the new glass available.

Tamron SP AF 10-24mm

Camera Nikon D90 Exposure 0.013 sec (1/80) Aperture f/3.5 Focal Length 10 mm ISO Speed 640

I got a hands on with a Tamron SP AF 10-24mm f / 3.5-4.5 DI II Zoom Lens for Nikon DX DSLR cameras. This lens gave me a nice wide angle shot of the show floor. The Tamron SP AF 10-24mm f/ 3.5-4.5 auto focused quickly. At 24 mm the lens worked well too. The lens focus ring was in a good easy to reach position. The lens was a decent weight and felt like it had a decent build quality.

Sigma 8-16mm

Camera Nikon D90 Exposure 0.017 sec (1/60) Aperture f/5.0 Focal Length 8 mm ISO Speed 640

The other lens I tried was the  Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens. I really was fascinated by this lens it fit really well on my Nikon D90. I think it’s the widest lens I have ever shot with. It had Sigma usual good quality build and felt nice in the hands the lens was not heavy. The auto focus was quick and quite on this lens. This is a fantastic lens for ultra wide landscape photography.

Wow, the 8mm looks pretty cool. I was thinking about the Tokina 11-16, but both of these seem equally compelling.
