Sony Alpha Mount Users Rejoice with the New Sony A68

Sony Alpha Mount users haven’t been feeling the love as much as the E and FE mount users have been getting as of late despite new lens announcements, but today the company is announcing their new Sony A68 DSLR (or DSLT) camera. Yes, it’s got a pellicle mirror in it and it designed to use Alpha mount lenses.

At the heart of the Sony A68 is a 24MP APS-C image stabilized sensor with an ISO range of 100-25,000. It works together with a new BIONZ X imaging processor to deliver the images. For the viewfinder, you’ll get Sony’s OLED Tru-Finder with a 1.44 million dot resolution.

This camera has what Sony is calling 4D focusing, which enables really fast and accurate tracking across the 79 AF points in the camera according to their claims.

The Sony A68 has a 2.7 inch LCD display on the back that can tilt at 135 degrees; but that LCD screen is lacking in detail at only 460,800 dots of resolution. Other features of note:

  • 1/4000th max shutter speed
  • 1080p HD video at 24p and 25p
  • Capable of shooting at 8fps

The new α68 A-mount interchangeable lens camera from Sony will be from March 2016 for approximately €600 body only or €700 with DT18-55mm F3.5-5.6 SAM II lens. At the moment it only seems like this is coming to Europe.
