There are very few times that I open up an email and literally say outloud, “What the hell is this?” But today, Adorama’s Flashpoint is the winner of that award. The monstrosity above is their new Camera Cage bracket with many shoes, and they’re targeting it at strobists and videographers. The flashpoint square bracket has aluminum top and bottom mounting plates with two foam covered side handles as well as nine slots for shoe mounts and multiple 1/4 x 20 and 3/8 x 16 threaded holes.
Really? Really!?
I’m not sure any videographer would use this without proper shoulder support and we’re not sure what strobist would use this as it looks incredibly uncomfortable. Maybe if you give it motorized legs, it will go out and take pictures for you instead–in which case it might be perfect for the Chicago Sun Times.
