If you’re an X Pro 1 or XE-1 user, get ready to go through the process of downloading firmware onto your SD card and inserting it into the camera. The latest piece of firmware from Fujifilm is offering extra performance enhancements with the new XF55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS. This new lens is the new telephoto zoom for the system, though to be honest we’re not too sure how many people will be purchasing it as it seems like an extremely consumer-ish focal length range. Most X camera users seem to reach for higher fruit–or at least that is the experience that we often see.
The firmware downloads are available at the according links in the previous paragraph.
Editor’s Note: It seems that in addition to improving the AF speed with the new 55-200mm zoom, speed with other lenses has also improved. Between 2.03 and 2.04 with the latest firmware for the XF 35mm F1.4 I noticed an improvement with overall speed in focusing, as well as accuracy within low light. Fuji’s Press Release regarding the firmware hinted there would be an improvement in other lenses, though it is possible we will see further improvement with yet another firmware upgrade later this summer (Source: DPReview)
