When it comes to choosing a good camera, photographers have plenty of options to work with. Canon has some lovely options, while Sony offers different variations. Since most photographers want a compact offering, here are some models that work best as interchangeable and small in design.
Panasonic S9 with 40mm f2

The Panasonic S9 is full frame camera with a 24.2MP sensor, 6.5 stops of image stabilization, and real-time LUT. The device is small, lightweight, has a large screen and no EVF. The focusing system is great, is quick for street photography and is very capable. With LUTs, you get some fantastic colors and images. The RAW files are versatile, and the high ISO output is good at up to 12,800. We added in our review, “In the hand, the camera will be much more comfortable than you think once you hold it correctly and use it with foresight.” As for the 40mm f2, the lens is superfast, and snappy, making the kit ideal for street photography. The photos are good, the colors are nice and as we added, “The LUMIX 40mm f2 gave off the same vibes as someone giving you flowers. Seriously, when you use the LUTs, it’s nearly impossible to get a bad photo.”
Sony a7c II With Viltrox 28mm f4.5

Sony makes some great mirrorless cameras and the a7C II is one such device. Housing a 33MP sensor, this Sony compact offers BIONZ XR processor and 5-axis image stabilization. It is lightweight, and is weather sealed, making it an ideal option for outdoor shoots. As we added in our review, “Despite the rangefinder-style design, the body still has a reasonably good-sized grip to it, more prominent than rangefinder-style options from Fujifilm.” The focusing speed is decent throughout the day, and it is versatile enough to dabble with various genres. The images are sharp and offer superb clarity. When paired with Viltrox pancake lens, you get a great kit that is small and easy to carry. In fact, Viltrox’s 28mm offers some truly soulful images. The images offer some character, which is ideal for those who want more.
Canon EOS M6 Mk II and 28mm f3.5 IS STM

The Canon M6 II is a 32.5MP APS-C camera with 5,481 manually selectable AF points. The device has a minimal design, with simple controls at the top and back, and a pop-up flash. The build quality is solid, the focus is good even in low light, and “face detection here is nearly the level of the Canon EOS R.” As for the image quality, it is fantastic, and JPEGs will make you really happy. “They’re clean, crisp, beautiful, and well colored. I can’t think of a single photographer that would hate these images for the type of camera that we’re working with,” we added. The 28mm lens is small, has a nice metal building, and the bokeh is amazing. The colors are a bit muted and have some wonderful sharpness.
