If I were to look at the compact camera market today on a big photography retailer’s website, I’d think that there aren’t all that many compact cameras. But that would be wrong. Instead, they’re all small businesses and working on little profits. These are labors of love, not made by billion-dollar companies, in many of the cases. And with that said, you’re probably missing out on some of the best compact cameras on the market. So here are some of the ones that we love!
So here’s what makes each camera in this photograph very unique and why you should consider getting it:

- Paper Shoot: This is a great camera for those of us who love to customize the look of our cameras. But where it lacks is with a powerful flash and low light image quality. Plus, the build quality is the worst of all the ones listed. You also need to build it yourself.
- Kodak C1 Pro: A small sensor, LED flash, and great looks. Honestly, this is a very fun camera that reminds me a lot of many of the compact cameras from the early 2000s.
- Chuzhao Camera: The most unique form factor of any camera on this list with its TLR-style looks. The image quality isn’t bad either, but it’s a big confusing to use.
- Camp Snap Original: The runaway hit! The community is big on creating image profiles for this camera. It boasts an LED flash and loads of fun.
- DigiFilm Camera: Of any camera on this list, this one has proven to be the most disappointing in the long term. But the image quality isn’t all that bad compared to the others too.
- Kodak Charmera: The smallest of the bunch and the most charming for sure. You can take it everywhere with you and there are customizable filters. The community also makes lots of hacks for it.
- Flashback 35 V2: If you want the disposable camera experience, this is what you want without getting rid of the camera. There’s also built in wi-fi to connect it to your phone.
- Camp Snap Pro: You can load up to four profiles on this camera at a time. The flash is also a bit weak, but it’s really fun.
- Echolens: With built-in Wifi to connect it to your phone and lots of great image filters, there’s a lot to love about this camera. But it can also be a bit confusing to use.
Which one would I get? Well, there are a lot that I really love. The Chuzhao wins for form factor. But I find myself reaching most for the Echolens and the Flashback 35 for the fact that there’s WiFi built in. The Camp Snap Pro is great for having really unique image filters. I’m truly not sure how often I’ll really bring the Kodak Charmera around, but it’s very easy to make into something that you bring everywhere with you.
To me, the most boring cameras are the Paper Shoot and the Kodak C1 Pro.
I also love the feel of the Digifilm camera as well as the image quality options. But what many of these cameras lack are good flashes and better low-light performance.
