Not long ago, I obtained a secondhand Domke F2 camera bag. At last, I am finally glad to say that I have found THE camerabag to suit my lifestyle, needs, and cost. Granted, I got mine for a very low price—but this camerabag should be in the hands and on the shoulders of any working photographer. Here are some of my findings.
All photos shot with the Canon G11.
Inside this bag I am able to put:
– Canon 5D Mk II with Battery Grip attached.
– 80-200mm F2.8 L
– 85mm F1.8 with the 50mm F1.8 on top of it
– Gary Fong Lightsphere (broken down into two different compartments)
– Canon 7D with Sun Sniper strap attached
– USB cables
– Memory Cards
Seriously, what else more could one want to stuff in there. In addition to that, there is still room to comfortably pack more items in. Now that doesn’t mean that photographers that purchase this item should go and try to stuff everything they have in there, on second thought, go for it.
The back pocket is actually very large and perhaps an iPad may be able to be stuck into there. In truth, one can stick an iPad into the inside of the top flap.
This bag is rugged, weatherproof, has great padding on the bottom to protect my lenses and gear, has lots of large pockets, has room for more straps to be slung onto it, and really ensures that it stays closed. Besides the buckles on it, there is also velcro that keeps the top shut. Besides this, Domke bags (most of them at least) are discrete and stylish. Additionally, this bag is much easier to lug around than a giant carry-on style bag.
Now while I haven’t been using the bag for a while, I’ve been loving it so far vs stuffing everything into messenger bags.
What’s your favorite bag, and why?
