Sometimes it can be a pain to use the sliders in Lightroom to get a precise value; this tip will make that easier!
I think we have all been there at one point or another in Lightroom; you are working with one of the sliders and you keep moving it to the left and to the right in order try and narrow down to the point you like best. It can often feel like a very hit or miss process, where it can take longer than it should because you are constantly having to spend more time fine-tuning your slide, instead of simply moving the slider and being done with it.
But what if we told you there was a way to get a finer level of control over that slider, which could, in theory, make finding that goldie-lox spot on the slider a faster process? Well, get ready to be told…
Benjamin Ward is back with another one of his excellent Lightroom Coffee Break videos on YouTube. In this video, he shared an incredible, yet little-known trick that will make the process of using those sliders much faster and more precise. It’s also stupid simple apparently, which sort of makes you wonder why it has gone so unnoticed.
At any rate, as you can see in the video, the trick is as simple as clicking on the number value next to the slider and then dragging left or right from there, rather than on the slider itself. This will, as Ward says and demonstrates (and you should believe him on this anyway, he is an Adobe employee after all), change the values when sliding finer and more precisely.
How is that for a great little trick that you can file under ‘So simple it was looking me in the face.” Now what would be really cool, would be if Adobe let you set how precise your sliders are in the Lightroom settings somewhere. But whatever, we did finally just get some speed improvements, so maybe we should be happy about that?
