Sony has introduced some fantastic cameras for professional photographers over the past few months. It now appears that the company is keen on launching something that benefits enthusiasts who are on a budget. While there have been reports of the launch of Sony RX10 V, it has now come to our attention that a photograph of the device also exists. Scroll below to have a look.
First revealed by Sony Alpha Rumors, the photograph showcases the Sony RX10 V (left) alongside the RX10 IV. And at first glance, you can see how different these cameras are today.

The image showcases an obvious change: the grip. There is also a change in control layout, which now seems like Sony’s modern Alpha mirrorless bodies. There is a top LCD screen, like the other RX10, and the lens barrel itself has been reworked. There is also a dedicated AF/MF switch and an additional custom button. So far, the other specifications are as follows:
- 20MP 1-inch sensor
- 24-600mm F2.8-4.0 Zeiss lens
- New double BIONZ XR-class processor
- New dedicated AI chip
- New autofocus features, including eye tracking and subject detection
- 4K at 120fps, Full HD at 240fps, S-Log3
- LUT support
Since the introduction of the image, it has seen a mix of enthusiasm and skepticism. The decade-old sensor is what makes things challenging. Some prefer to use the 50MP 1-inch sensor, which is reportedly used on GoPro’s latest camera.
There is said to be a loss of the Sony RX10 IV’s ultra-high frame-rate. Some couldn’t find the HFR button in the image, which worries some users that the company must have dropped 480fps and 960fps slow-motion modes entirely, which are used by wildlife and action photographers. However, it is possible that the function must have been moved into the menu system or been reassigned to a custom button.
Overall, the design overhaul itself got some positive response. One person said that the grip is like the a9 III or the a1 II, which means that it will make shooting for longer durations easy. The modern PASM dial and the inclusion of the newer Multi-Interface (MI) hot shoe are some additions that people adore. People are suspecting the removal of RX10 IV’s pop-up flash, which has disappointed people.
None of this has been confirmed, which means that the camera may not launch anytime soon. Until then, it remains to see what the camera has in store.
