When it comes to choosing a zoom lens that can do it all, then you have to look no further than the 24-70mm. The lens offers a pretty great range, is ideal for everyday shoots, and can handle a variety of subjects throughout. If you are a serious enthusiast who works with different genres, then here are some offerings that can be of help.
Tamron 24-70mm F2.8

Tamron lenses are pretty fantastic in every way. While they are now making an all-in-one compact zoom, the company has also worked on a 24-70mm that is best for DSRL users. It has 17 elements in 12 groups, a minimum focusing distance of 0.38m, and has a 5-top of image stabilization. The lens is weather sealed, is long when it is zoomed out, and is pretty easy to work with. When it comes to the autofocus, the lens is accurate, with 97% of the time using getting the shot right. It also depends on which DSLR you use. The image quality is nice, too, and the colors are lifelike. As we explained, “Photographers will take comfort in the reliability that there will be no chromatic aberration to really speak of or complain about. Even further, the lens focuses pretty close–which is great when is comes to headshot sessions using the longer end of the lens.” You also get nice bokeh and nice sharpness.
Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art (Original)

Sigma is another third-party lens maker that most photographers rely on. The Sigma lens offers 11 aperture blades, six low dispersion elements, and has a 0.6-feet minimum focusing distance. The welcome change is that the lens is smaller than most of the company’s offerings, and it is well-built and weather sealed. The 24-70mm is pretty good at autofocusing, and they are quick and accurate. The wider end has some vignetting, but overall, the images are great. The bokeh is smooth on the longer end, while the colors are saturated and vivid. As we added in our review, “We found the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN Art to be pleasantly sharp. In fact, we’re astonished at it once again. For the cost, you’re getting a great lens. I find this lens to be ever so slightly sharper than the Tamron.”
Canon RF 24-70mm f2.8L

Canon’s RF 24-70mm is a weather-resistant lens, as well as features a multi-function ring, then the focus ring, and then the zoom ring. This is also Canon’s fast lens, which worked pretty well with EOS R upon its launch. It also focused and kept the focus on your subject’s face. The image quality is great, something that one can easily expect from L-series lenses. The sharpness is good, the bokeh is beautiful, and the colors are great. It is also incredibly versatile. As we explained in our review, “The bokeh is sweet enough for most uses. Portrait photographers will surely appreciate it, and photojournalists will be more than happy with it. The bokeh is creamy at the longer end but hazier at the shorter end.” It is certainly expensive, but this is the only full frame offering with autofocus for Canon users.
