Over the past decade, VSCO has introduced a range of film packs for digital photographers. The company, which has been pushing photographers to get a distinct look, is now back with a new set of film presets for Adobe Lightroom. As vintage image quality is something folks are smitten with, this move will certainly benefit VSCO, especially since many creators are keen on achieving distinct photos. Without further ado, let’s have a look at what they have to offer.
According to the company, the presets are available but for a limited time. Film emulations can be used with RAW photo editing, allowing photographers to edit their images based on their vision.

So, which presets are available this time? VSCO states that they are from classic films such as Kodak, Fujifilm, and Ilford, and can be processed directly in Lightroom. The presets are designed to achieve the same results as film, so highlights, shadows, and grain will appear nuanced and natural. The collection includes both color and black-and-white film, some of which offer subtle +, ++, and – variations for fine-tuning contrast and overall film character. Here’s a quick look at what the company is offering:

VSCO notes that some films are gone forever, either discontinued or hard to find. But with VSCO Film 02, photographers can get the warmth, colors, and grain all over again. And this is without having to invest a huge chunk in actual films.
VSCO’s presets can be used for standard and camera-specific profiles. You can also apply in bulk or experiment with a new variation that works best for your shooting style. Something of this nature can certainly help wedding, portrait, fashion, and commercial photographers.
However, it must be remembered that the presets can only help so much. As we said in the review of VSCO Film 07, “The presets are mostly subtle, which may strike some as a negative, but for me, it’s a positive. The image’s aesthetic should not distract from what’s actually in the image. Fancy presets won’t make an uninteresting photo interesting. The preset should be in service of the image, not the other way around.”
VSCO Film 02 can be downloaded easily with a Pro member subscription. However, those on a free trial will have to speak to the support team.
