We’ve tested a bunch of Lowepro bags, and the reviews have been a bit of good and bad. In some cases, the company managed to nail the backpacks; in other cases, they have been quite inspirational. So, when we heard that the company was launching a new generation of backpacks in their ProTactic series, we had to see what this was about for our sleeves. The Lowepro ProTactic III is designed for both DSLR and mirrorless cameras and has ample features. Here’s a look at its USP.
Lowepro Introduces a Dozen New Products
The company’s latest Lowepro ProTactic III series is designed for photographers and content creators. The company claims it has been field-tested for durability, comfort, and longevity. Lowepro has announced 12 new bags in this lineup, all promising a modular bag system. This includes four backpacks, two slings, a contoured padded utility belt, two utility pouches, a bottle pouch, a smartphone pouch, and a quick straps kit.

The press release we received states that Lowepro’s SlipLock connection system is useful for photographers, as it helps them customize and adapt their kits. Although, it didn’t state what it is or how it can be used. The company says all the bags feature recycled fabric, which will also help the environment, especially with less carbon emission.

The first part of the Lowepro kit is the BP 450 and BP 350 backpacks. The company has created four access points, two side doors, and a wide opening for telephoto lenses for photographers. There is also a back access, as seen in other camera bags, which helps with quick organization. Lowepro has also included a few features, which they said were suggested by the customers: a new harness, a webbing attach system for large tripods, a fully molded divider system, and more external pockets.
The Lowepro ProTactic Lite Collection is designed for photographers who need smaller bags for personal or light assignments. They can carry smaller cameras and laptops and drive to work as they travel. The company says all the bags feature recycled fabric, which will also help the environment, especially by reducing carbon emissions.
They Don’t Look Too Distinct
One of the things that you see is that the bag, on paper, appears like the many offerings we see outside. However, we may be wrong, as the company has worked on making the bags more user-friendly. However, from the looks of it, like many camera manufacturers, other photography accessories are created with the content creation crowd in mind. While this is not bad, it only means that the needs may vary. A photographer may have to work for much longer hours, and those in the adventure and travel genres may need more comfort and support. A content creator may have different needs, perhaps more compartments to carry additional accessories.
So, while the idea of expanding their lineup from 10 to 12 products is good, the question arises: How many will be used by photographers, and do photographers really need that many bags? A smartphone pouch does not entice me, as most of us carry our phones in our pockets or camera bags. Carrying a separate pouch just adds to the luggage list; I wouldn’t want that. However, I can see why it will appeal to some outdoor photographers.
The quality, knowing Lowepro, will be great as usual. One will have to see the level of comfort and the price range, especially when there are so many offerings out there.
