The folks over at MPIX often make some really fun stuff and find innovative ideas on how to print photographs. Their latest is the Tabletop Hinged prints — which let you combine two images together to stand on their own. These aren’t pieces of wall decor, though. Instead, they’re designed to be put on tables throughout your home. That means that there are a ton of great ideas you can make with them.

The Cool Factor
Truly, I’d see lots of older folks buying these. In fact, most millennials don’t seem to have lots of photographs displayed on their tables — at least not many that I’ve seen. But when I go into the homes of older folks, I notice that there are lots of photographs of people on tables. Those photographs represent deep love. Therefore, you have to have things in your place that would represent exactly that to you. Some ideas are:
- Senior portrait sessions: Having a vertical and horizontal image could be incredibly fun
- Weddings: A portrait of the couple and then a fun moment could work together
- Photographs of your beloved pets: I could imagine an image of a puppy and then a photo of it as a full-grown dog right next to it.
- Family photos: Those who are very close to their parents or families could really enjoy this.
- Fun moments with friends: I mean, why not commemorate the road trip you just took?
- Big life moments, such as the birth of a child, a graduation, etc.: I’ve got lots of friends having kids right now, and these could be wonderful keepsakes.
As photographers, we’d might not end up making one of these for yourself. But we’d totally include it as something that we could sell to our clients.
The fact that these are glossy makes them unique products. They’ll probably end up looking like the dye sublimation prints that we knew growing up. However, they’ll be on a completely different kind of surface and the tabletop hinged prints won’t be going into photo albums.
You’re probably best off also sticking these under a lamp of some sort where the light can bathe over the images from above. That’s how glossy prints work best. Window lighting won’t do this product justice to radiate with the joy it’s bound to bring.
You can check out the prints over at MPIX’s website where they start at $24.99.
