Tap and Dye have been making classic camera bags and straps for a while now. We were fortunate enough to visit with them not long ago to see their impressive manufacturing process. The new Legacy items that have been added to their lineup should build upon the quality they have become known for.
The new Legacy Classic Utility Tote is an everyday bag that can be used to carry your camera, lenses, and just about anything else around. The Legacy tote is made out of heavy-duty weatherproof martexin waxed canvas, and it has a reinforced bottom panel and handles which are secured with copper rivets. It has an adjustable shoulder/crossbody strap that is detachable, a large interior pocket that will easily fit a 13″ and 15″ MacBook Pro or iPad, and it features a front pocket that can easily fit a point and shoot or fixed lens mirrorless camera. The main body of the Tap and Dye Legacy Utility Tote measures 16″ H x 13.5″ W x 4.5″ D. The interior pocket measures 12″ H x 12.5″ W, and the large front pocket measures 7″ H x 6.25″ W. This bag will cost $175.
The Legacy Adjustable Camera Strap is made from full-grain cowhide leather, and every camera strap features antique nickel-plated solid brass rivets and buckles. The underside of the strap is beveled and sanded for a softer, comfortable fit and feel, while all edges will be left unfinished and distressed for a vintage antique look. This strap offers a length range from 38-inches to 46-inches and has a strap thickness of 6oz and a width of half an inch. The Tap and Dye Legacy Adjustable Camera Strap has a retail price of $135.
According to Tap and Dye, the Nero Slim Adjustable Strap is their softest and most flexible strap ever. This camera strap is cut a little bit slimmer than standard wide straps, but it still features hand stitching that has been weather treated for extra strength. The Nero Slim is ideal for lightweight mirrorless cameras and lens combinations but is strong enough to carry around a Leica M. This strap can be adjusted between 36-inches and 44-inches in length, and has a thickness of 5.5 to 6oz and a width of half an inch. The Nero Slim has a retail price of $120.
Last, but not least is the Tap and Dye Legacy Classic Nero Slim Wrist Strap. All of the handmade straps are cut from premium Horween Chromexcel leather hides. There are minimal metal components so that when in storage, users can have a higher level of protection. The underside of the strap is beveled and sanded for a softer feel, and the edges are unfinished so that you can get that vintage antique look you crave.
Each camera strap can be personalized with either white or crimson thread, and a hand-stitched leather loop lock is fitted to each strap for size adjustment. The Nero Slim Wrist Strap measures 8.5-inches long, it has a thickness of 7.5 oz, and it has a width of three-quarters of an inch. You can add one to your collection for $65.
