Join a motivated, efficient, never overworked, and well paid team!
Hi folks,
In preparation for a number of changes we’re undergoing to make the site even better, we’re working on hiring new writers based around the world as well as in the US (where most of us are based). Think you’ve got the chops? Check out the application process below.
PS: I’m specifically closing comments on this post. We won’t answer them. Send us an email inquiry like we ask.
Tech Specialized News Writer
To expand our news team and prepare for a number of big industry-wide changes, in addition to constantly staying on top of the news machine, we’re currently hiring a part-time news writer. We have a strong preference to someone Asia-based, working on the EST time zone schedule. The Philippines, Malaysia, and India are preferred, but all applications will be reviewed and fairly considered. We’re very away of the situations with the livelihood of journalists in a number of countries and we’re sympathetic to it. Alternatively, if you’re based in America then we’d hope that you’d be on the West Coast of the country, in the PST time zone. Again though, that isn’t a priority.
We’re specifically looking for a news writer with knowledge of the photography worldâs technology sector.
Requirements
â Must be proficient with WordPress
â Strong command of the English language; the American dialect and spelling is a plus.
â Previous news writing experience
â Will be able to demonstrate knowledge of copyright laws as they pertain to using images, etc.
â Must have industry technical knowledge; artistic photography knowledge is a nice plus!
â One to two news posts per business day. Usually pieces are a minimum of 300 words each. This is a freelance job. No one on staff (except for me) needs to work more than 8 to 12 hours a week. Mental health is very important to us.
â Must be able to meet deadlines
â Must work well with a team and be able to take guidance (sometimes constructive criticism) well
â Youâll have a trial period.
â Payment is negotiable, but you surely will be monetarily compensated and compensated well compared to other organizations. The Phoblographer is well known for fair and honest compensation amongst the photography blogging world.
–Â We have a very serious non-compete policy.
How to Apply
Skip the resume and send an awesome cover letter to chrisgampat@thephoblographer.com citing all the best stuff youâve done, along with three writing samples demonstrating that you can do the type of work weâre looking for. Links to your website, portfolio, and the writing samples should be included.
Be sure to make the subject line say your name and the position you’re going for. For example: Chris Gampat: News/Culture Writer Position.
After your application is received, it will be reviewed by me. Good luck to all applicants!

Black and White/Street Photography/Documentary Photography Tutorial and Feature Writer
With my dissolving of La Noir Image, the Phoblographer is looking to fill the void via our main website. Our audience has a strong interest in black and white photography, street photography, and the documentary process. Our preference for this position is to have a writer located in Turkey. We’ve chosen this location due to our study of cultural and photographic trends coming out of the area. Of course, if you’re based in another country, we’ll still consider you for the position.
Requirements
â Must be proficient with WordPress
â Strong command of the English language; the American dialect and spelling is a plus.
â Previously related writing experience
â Will be able to demonstrate knowledge of copyright laws as they pertain to using images, etc.
â Must have basic technical knowledge and artistic photography knowledge
â One to four posts a month, this is negotiable. Usually pieces are 1,000 words each. This is a freelance job. No one on staff (except for me) needs to work more than 8 to 12 hours a week. Mental health is very important to us.

Landscape/Wildlife Photography Tutorial and Feature Writer
Preference in Nepal and Iceland. Though we have these preferences, we’re open to other countries and areas. However, due to how our system works, these areas would be best for both of us. Iceland and Nepal are both hot spots for tourism. We’re in the process of finding a way to target the landscape and travel photography world even more than we currently do. Additionally, appropriate amounts of landscape coverage is something we’ve been missing for a long time.
