Debuting in the U.S. at PhotoPlus Expo in New York City later this month, the units seek to spark a renaissance for the lighting manufacturer. After many months of intense market research and product development, the lights are part of Bowen’s new strategy, with aethestics, functionality, and cost being at the forefront behind the Generation X Flash design.
The Generation X Flash system consists of two units, the XMT and XMS. The XMT is an all-in-one battery unit for location lighting and the XMS is engineered to be the go-to system for photographers who need a function-rich and completely reliable flash in the studio. At a glance, both units are impressively spec’d.
The XMT boasts 500ws, TTL with high speed sync functionality up to 1/8000s, nine stops of flash power adjustment, flash durations as short as 1/10309s, recycle times as fast as 0.01s, an easy swap lithium-ion batter providing up to 500 full power flashes, rear curtain sync, sync delay, and strobe mode allowing numerous creative set-ups on the move.
The XMS, available in 500,750, and 1000Ws models features multi-voltage operation, faster recycling times and flash durations. The new units also include Bowen’s groundbreaking “Sync Ofset” functionality, enabling photographers to embrace any brand of camera to shoot at high sync speeds up to 1/8000s.
