So one of the big social media stories of the last couple months was the introduction of Stories to Instagram, a blatant ripoff of their competitor Snapchat. Instagram users have been doing learning what Stories are, how to do them, and the best way to use them. But we all have that one (or more) friends who just go crazy with them — and not in a good day. There is hope fellow ‘grammers, in Instagram’s latest update they added the ability to mute certain people’s stories.
So, as noted above, in their latest update, Instagram added the ability for users to mute each others stories. The idea being if you are following a couple hundred people or more, these stories can be a bit much to handle. If someone consistently updates their stories with things that offend or annoy you all you need to do is mute them.
Luckily, muting someone isn’t all that hard either! According to Instagram all you need to do in order to mute a friend’s stories is tap and hold’ on their profile photo in the ‘Stories bar’ at the top of your Instagram feed. Once you mute their story it will go to the back of your stories queue and it will not auto-play like the non-muted stories do.
That is all there is to it. If you mute a story and still want to see it, you can, you will just have to do so manually (it won’t autoplay). This will be perfect for those people who go nuts with their stories, just mute them and come back to it when you have time to site and watch your phone for 15 minutes.
To unmute a story you can follow Instagram’s directions, here.
