The 2015 Monochrome Awards winners were recently announced, and while everyone is still fixated on how Nikon selected a poorly Photoshopped image, these will instead really inspire you–if you’re into black and white photography that is!
Check them out after the jump.
PS: If you’re really into black and white photography, you should send a pitch for La Noir Image.

2. Yes, the original file is RAW.
3. This image was taken in a channel between La Paz Bay and Espiritu Santo Island, Baja California Sur, México.
4. The photographer is Christian Vizl
5. A brief description of the situation: Usually the Sea Lions of this area are found on a tiny island called La Lobera, about 1.5 hours by boat from La Paz. But this group was just outside the Bay in an area where there there a lot of fishes. Probably they go here to hunt. When I encounter them, most where resting at the surface, but one couple in particular where playing among themselves, having a great time and being very tender to each other. The image was taken using only natural light with a single exposure. The postrocesing was done in Lightroom, with minimal cropping, rotated 180 degrees, converted into Black and White, applied basic adjustments and a post-crop vignetting.
