Samyang teased a lens to its Facebook followers earlier and today their new lens is being announced. Both Rokinon and Samyang announced their new 100mm f2.8 Macro lens for full frame cameras and offering a full 1:1 macro ratio for focusing. The lens’s minimum focusing distance is one foot and features 15 elements in 12 groups. It has high refractive glass and Ed elements built in. Additionally, it includes what the press release states as “Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) of Samyang Optics” which is used to optimize the light penetration and minimize flare and ghost as it claims. The Samyang 100mm series comes in 10 camera mounts: Canon EOS, Nikon, Pentax, Sony ∝, Sony E, Fujifilm X, Canon M, Samsung NX, Four-Thirds, and MFT.
The Samyang 100mm series will be available globally from the end of April 2015. Suggested retail price is 100mm F2.8 for EUR 549 and 100mm T3.1 for EUR 599. No word on the American price yet, but there is also a cinema version.
We’re going to call a Rokinon 100mm f2.8 Macro Lens in for testing.
