Come on, you know you’re jealous.
Though this video is from 2011, Laughing Squid recently shared the video of photojournalist Charlie Bird photographing on a beach very close to large seals. One of the babies (that is pretty much as large as Charlie is) becomes very friendly and snuggly with Mr. Bird and gets extremely close to him. Then before you know it, a second seal pop joins in on the fun and smothers him.
In the end, one of the seals is so comfortable with him that it ends up taking a nap next to him.
While seal pups can indeed be inquisitive and friendly, their parents sometimes aren’t–especially the elephant seals that Charlie talks about. So the fact that the other adult seals around him aren’t very phased by this and are instead just looking on is quite an achievement.
The video is after the jump.
